POLYMER MODIFIED RAPID SETTING ADHESIVE FOR
WALLS AND FLOORS
- Conforms to BS EN 12004 C2FT
DESCRIPTION:
Polymer modified cement based adhesive for fixing of tiles to a
variety of substrates. The product sets in 40 minutes and can
accept light foot traffic in 3 hours at 20ºC.
This cement based adhesive is suitable for fixing a variety of floor
and wall tiles such as ceramics, slate, quarries, porcelain, vitrified,
semi vitrified, limestone, terrazzo and mosaics to a variety of
surfaces without an admix. When set, the adhesive is water
resistant and is suitable for use in swimming pools.
The product can be used between 3mm and 6mm bed thickness
with up to 12mm in uneven areas. Solid bed method of fixing is
recommended for external areas.
PREPARATION:
Before commencing, all surfaces must be clean, dry and strong
enough to support the weight of the tiles and the adhesive.
Remove all loose dust, dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants
likely to affect adhesion.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING:
On concrete floors, the heating element should be embedded in
a layer of adhesive and allowed to set prior to fixing tiles.
TILE FIXING:
Add 4 Parts FastSet Flexible to 1 Part cold clean tap water by
weight in a clean mixing vessel. Mix to a smooth creamy consistency
either by hand or using a slow mechanical mixing paddle. Mix only
sufficient that can be used in 40 mins. Product that has started
to set must be discarded.Apply adhesive to the floor using a
notched trowel such that a continuous bed of adhesive between
3mm and 6mm is achieved when tiles are applied.Adhesive
should also be applied to the back of deep studded tiles to
cover the studs. Ensure the adhesive is still moist when tiles are
pressed into place. Check occasionally there is good transfer of
adhesive onto the back of the tile. Clean surplus adhesive from
the tiles and joints as soon as possible as set adhesive will prove
difficult to remove later. Clean all tools after use.
GROUTING:
Should not be carried out until adhesive has set after 3 hours approx
depending on site conditions. Granfix 1 Part Grout is recommended.
